Question by Canadian Goose: Dave Lavinsky and Growthink – has anybody used his 10 step “Business Plan”?
I’m thinking about starting up a small business. I saw his presentation online and an offer to buy his “10 step business” plan. He gave the first 4 steps. So for a price you can get the next 6 – plus gravy. How is he? He sounds good – but that doesn’t mean much. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

In an effort to increase the market share of a company or a business or even make the business more profitable, advertising is one of the way businesses create awareness of goods and services they are dealing in to customers through advertising. There exist several methods through which they can advertise their products. The methods used greatly are dependent on the budget allocated to meet the costs of advertisement. Several advantages of using advertising as a promotion tool existAdvantages:Personal decision:Majority of small businesses are solely owned by a single individual. There are usually no issues associated to public relations or even marketing teams in small businesses. As a result, the information which reaches the customers is specifically based on what the business owner decides should reach the customers there are no modifications.When it comes to small businesses, the specific decision on when to advertise, where to advertise and how to advertise and even the reason behind the advertising are dependent on the business owner. The owner decides which type of advertising to use since he or she knows the business very well than any other party. The owner can use a specific type of advertisement in order to target a certain group of consumers, whom he or she thinks will be receptive to the business views.Faster than word of mouth:Small businesses have limited resources when it comes to matters related to the capital owned. There is usually no marketing team involved. As a result, the word of mouth though the best advertising strategy for the business to use, it may take time before the information reaches the desired customers. As a result, advertising through media tool such as radio, television and newspapers makes the flow of information much faster and even to a larger market pool.Requires less capital:Compared to the other methods of promoting goods and services which businesses might use advertising is much economical. This is due to the fact that, only a small amount of capital is required to promote the businesses through the different media tools. Expenses such as running costs of a marketing team, gift and free samples are not incurred when the small business is advertising is using advertising as its promotion method.Consistency:Continuous advertising of small businesses helps in presenting the business image to the customers. This creates and image of trust while still building awareness on the gods and services the small business is dealing in. As time passes on, the small business creates an identity and customers can easily recognize its products compared to those of the rival businesses. The customers who are already aware of the products from the advertisements are also able to refer customers to the business products.
